In order to become a candidate for MUA, you must undergo a thorough screening process as patient safety is of utmost importance.
Typically, candidates for MUA have already exhausted treatment options, inlcuding:
- Medical Treatment (Meds)
- Physical Therapy
- Chiropractic Care
- Pain Management (Injections)
- Possibly even surgery (not necessary to be considered for MUA)
If all other treatment options have been exhausted, the next part of the screening process helps further rule-out any contraindications to this procedure and consists of:
- History and Physical Exam
- X-Ray Examination (If not already performed)
- MRI Examination (If not already performed)
- Nerve Conduction Studies (If necessary)
- Specialist Referral (If necessary)
Once you have passed through the screening process, Insurance verification/Pre-authorization will be submitted and Pre-Admission Testing will be ordered. Pre-admission testing is necessary to be cleared for anesthesia.
